Embraer steps up its game with presence at IDEF’13

Embraer Defense & Security is stepping up its marketing drive in the region and is demonstrating that with its participation at this week's International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF'13), which takes place May 7-10 at the Tüyap Fair & Exhibition Center, in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Brazilian manufacturer is showing details of a broad range of its products including the A-29 Super Tucano light attack airplane and advanced trainer and the KC-390 military airlifter and tanker. The Super Tucano was recently selected for the U.S. Air Force’s Light Air Support program to perform counter insurgency missions in Afghanistan.

The KC-390, which is currently under development, has 60 letters of intent to purchase from six nations and Embraer says, will set a new standard for medium-sized military transport aircraft, in terms of performance and payload capacity.

Its first flight is scheduled for 2014, with deliveries to begin in 2016.

Embraer’s Defense & Security portfolio also includes a family of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft, state-of-the-art radar technologies, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and advanced information and communication systems, such as Command, Control, Communication, Computation, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) applications.

“We are glad to participate in this prestigious event and have the opportunity to promote our mission-ready products for the European and Asian markets,” said Geraldo Gomes, Senior Vice President Marketing and Sales – Embraer Defense & Security. “We offer a large number of solutions made-to-order for the needs of each customer.”
