Bangladesh A-5C (Q-5III) Fantan aircraft crash-lands in Chittagong

A training aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force crash-landed on the Zahurul Haque Base of Bangladesh Air Force today.

The aircraft caught fire at around 12 noon while landing on the runway of the Base beside Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.

BAF personnel rushed to the scene and doused the fire quickly before arrival of the fire fighters. The lone pilot, Flight Lieutenant Md Muntasir was safe. He was sent to the BAF Hospital for nursing, it was learnt.

Fire fighters said the aircraft caught fire in the rear, lost control and fell on the runway. There was no casualty in the accident.

Chittagong International Airport Station manager Abul Kashem said landing of flights remained normal as the incident occurred outside the airport runways.
