This Day in Air Force History: 50 years ago Today

An Air Force supersonic F-102 Delta Dagger lighter interceptor crash landed at Yuba County Airport at 8:30 a.m. today.

The pilot walked away from the smoking delta wing craft unhurt. Air Force officials refused to confirm or deny that the pilot, on a routine training mission from Travis Air Force Base, had radioed Beale that he was running out of fuel.
