Syrian Air Force denies “bulk” of planes moved to Russian airbase

Several U.S. media outlets claimed on Wednesday that the Syrian Air Force moved its assets to the Russian-controlled Hmaymim Airbase in southwest Latakia.

From CNN to Fox News, these U.S. media outlets alleged the Syrian Air Force moved the “bulk” of its assets to the already overcrowded Hmaymim Airbase in the Latakia Governorate district of Jableh.

According to a Syrian Air Force officer, some aircraft are routinely moved and others were transferred to the Hmaymim Airbase in order to help at the Hama front; however, the allegations regarding the bulk of their planes being moved to this installation are false.

The Syrian and Russian air forces carried out a large number of attacks from the Hmaymim Airbase today, but these attacks specifically concentrated on the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate, where the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is preparing to storm a number of jihadist sites.
