Elbit Systems wins Hermes 900 contract

Elbit Systems has announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply the Hermes 900 Unmanned Aerial vehicle (UAV) the governmental office of an unnamed country in the Americas. The contract is worth approximately $50 million.

According to Elbit Systems, the UAV will be operated in a variety of perimeter security missions over a project period of approximately one year. Elbit Systems will also supply systems such as the Universal Ground Control Stations (UGCS), Elbit Systems Electro-Optics Elop's highly advanced DCoMPASS payload systems, and satellite communication systems.

Elbit Systems has designed the Hermes 900 UAV to build on the operational experience accumulated by the Hermes 450, the backbone of the Israel Defense Forces’ UAS operations. Hermes 900 offers a range of enhanced capabilities, from higher flight altitude (up to 30,000 ft) to longer endurance and larger payload capacity. The system’s structure enables it to carry a variety of payloads in different shapes and sizes for quick conversion between payload configurations.
