Indiana Military Museum Acquires Rare Vietnam Era Jet

The Indiana Military Museum is looking forward to adding a rare piece to its historic aviation fleet in the coming days.

After more than two years of planning, an F-4E Phantom II Fighter Jet is expected to arrive at the museum by next week.

The museum is expected to pay around $30,000 to hire an engineering crew to handle the difficult process of taking the jet apart, transporting it and reassembling it once it has arrived at the museum grounds.

Museum curators say the F-4E was the main combat jet used in the Vietnam War. The plane will come to Indiana from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, where it has been in reserve.
