Danish ocean patrol vessel procurement programme expected this year

Denmark is expected to launch its ocean patrol vessel procurement programme in 2023.
Denmark is expected to launch its ocean patrol vessel (OPV) procurement programme in 2023, as the Royal Danish Navy seeks to enhance its maritime surveillance and patrol capabilities.
The procurement programme is part of Denmark's broader naval modernization efforts and will focus on acquiring new ocean patrol vessels capable of operating in Arctic and North Atlantic waters. These vessels will be designed to perform a range of missions including fishery protection, search and rescue, and sovereignty patrol operations.
The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) is overseeing the procurement process, which is expected to include requirements for ice-strengthened hulls, advanced sensor systems, and the ability to operate helicopters or unmanned aerial vehicles.
The new OPVs will complement Denmark's existing naval fleet and support the country's commitments to NATO and international maritime security operations. The vessels are expected to have enhanced endurance and seakeeping capabilities to operate effectively in challenging northern waters.
Industry sources suggest that several international shipbuilders are likely to compete for the contract, with the formal tender process expected to begin later this year.
