This command is responsible for the strategic mobility and security of the Sultan and the royal family, operating a sophisticated fleet of specialized aircraft and helicopters that are often supported by the technical infrastructure of the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO).

ROYAL OMAN FLIGHT & ROYAL HOUSEHOLD • Diwan of Royal Court
Personnel: ε250 (Royal Flight); ε6,400 (Royal Household & Royal Guard). Mission: Strategic and tactical VIP transport, royal security, and government liaison.

Royal Strategic VIP Transport Command

AIRCRAFT Total 7 active PAX/VIP platforms.

Strategic & Long-range PAX:

  • 1 Boeing 747-400;
  • 1 Boeing 747-8;
  • 1 Boeing 747SP.

Medium-range & Executive Transport:

  • 1 Airbus A319;
  • 1 Airbus A320;
  • 2 Gulfstream IV.
  • (Note: The RAFO also operates an integrated VIP flight featuring additional A320-300, Gulfstream IV, and a C-130J-30 in VIP configuration).

HELICOPTER 6 active VIP transport platforms.

VIP Transport (Helicopters):

  • 6 Airbus EC225LP Super Puma.

ROYAL YACHT SQUADRON

HELICOPTER (Ship-borne) 2 active.

Multi-role & Utility:

  • 2 Airbus AS332 Super Puma.
    • (Note: These assets operate from the Royal Yacht Fulk Al Salamah, which also serves as a vehicle transport).

ROYAL GUARD BRIGADE

GROUND-BASED EQUIPMENT (Organic Security Force)

Armoured Fighting Vehicles:

  • Assault (ASLT): 9 Centauro MGS;
  • Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV): 14 VAB VCI;
  • Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC): ε50 Type-92.

Air Defence & Artillery:

  • Multiple Rocket Launchers (MRL): 6 Type-90A (122mm);
  • Point-defence SAM: Javelin;
  • Self-propelled Anti-Aircraft Guns: 9 VAB VDAA (20mm).

Note: By 2026, the Royal Oman Flight remains a primary symbol of Omani sovereignty, maintaining a high state of readiness to support the Sultanate's leadership. While these assets are administratively separate, they benefit from Oman's recent efforts to recapitalize its core air systems and modernize its land-domain maintenance through international partnerships. Security for royal installations is provided by the specialized Royal Guard Brigade, which maintains its own organic armored and air defense capabilities to ensure comprehensive protection.
