International military presence in the Kingdom is primarily focused on integrated air defense and regional security cooperation, with the United States maintaining the largest contingent under US Central Command (USCENTCOM).

SAUDI ARABIA • FOREIGN FORCES (2026)
Status: Stationed units for regional deterrence and technical support. Total Foreign Personnel: ε2,750+.

UNITED STATES (USCENTCOM)

Personnel: ε2,500. Base Location: Eskan Village (Riyadh) and other integrated facilities.

• AIRCRAFT Total 28 active platforms.

Fighter / Ground Attack:

• 2 FGA squadrons with 12 Lockheed Martin F-16C Fighting Falcon.

Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C):

• 1 AEW&C squadron with 4 Boeing E-3B/G Sentry.

Tanker:

• 1 tanker squadron with 12 Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker.

• AIR DEFENCE & MISSILE DEFENCE

Long-range SAM & Ballistic Missile Defence:

• 1 SAM battery with Raytheon M902/M903 Patriot PAC-3 / PAC-3 MSE.
• 1 SAM battery with Lockheed Martin THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense).

UNITED KINGDOM

Personnel: ε100. Mission: Air defense and technical radar support.

Point-defence SAM:

• 1 SAM battery with FV4333 Stormer platforms equipped with Starstreak.

Technical Support:

• 1 Radar Detachment.

GREECE

Personnel: ε100. Mission: Integrated missile defense support.

• 1 SAM battery with Raytheon M901 Patriot PAC-2.

FRANCE

Personnel: ε50. Mission: Technical aerial monitoring.

Strategic Note (2026)

The presence of foreign forces in Saudi Arabia remains a cornerstone of the Kingdom's multi-layered defense strategy. While the U.S. continues to provide the primary high-altitude missile defense and tactical air support, European and Greek contributions are specifically tailored toward point-defense and domain awareness. These foreign assets are increasingly integrated into a local logistical framework managed by Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), which seeks to prioritize the localization of 50% of defense spending under Vision 2030. This includes the localization of maintenance for advanced targeting systems and rotary-wing engines to ensure the readiness of both domestic and joint allied operations.
